On the day of your surgery, we will warmly greet you and help you settle into our state-of-the-art surgical suite in Philadelphia. Your surgery will be performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation. This ensures that you rest deeply, free from pain and discomfort throughout your treatment journey.
Based on your needs, your plastic surgeon will choose either an open or closed approach. With open rhinoplasty, an incision is created across the base of the nose (the columella), resulting in a tiny, imperceptible scar. This allows your doctor increased access to the inner nasal structures and is ideal for more complex procedures. Closed rhinoplasty involves incisions made inside the nose, leaving no external scarring. This is recommended for those seeking more subtle adjustments.
During surgery, your provider will adjust the nasal cartilage and bone to create a more pleasing and balanced nasal shape. They may also opt to use grafting techniques as needed to increase definition and sculpting. Once the nose has been reshaped, your incisions will be closed, and you will be placed in our recovery area for careful monitoring until you are cleared to return home.
