Our Philadelphia chemical peel involves applying an acidic agent to the skin to treat the epidermis, revealing healthy skin beneath. The results of a chemical peel are temporary, but because the procedure is quick and non-invasive, it is an excellent option for men and women who would like to treat superficial skin imperfections or refresh their overall appearance. By removing the damaged or dead outer skin cells, the complexion, skin color, and skin imperfections can be dramatically improved.
To perform a chemical peel, Dr. Morgenstern will first thoroughly cleanse the skin to remove excess oils. The eyes and hair are covered to be protected from the chemical solution applied to the face. Once your facial skin has been prepared, the chemical solution – typically an acid, such as glycolic, salicylic, lactic, or carbolic – is applied evenly across the skin. The duration of the treatment will vary depending on the type of peel being applied, but typically a chemical peel takes no more than 15 minutes, during which the damaged outer layer of skin is treated. After your treatment, we apply skin-renewing serums, cooling lotions, and sunscreens until the healing process is complete.
