Plastic Surgery is an art and a science. The decision to become a Plastic Surgeon allows me to express my creativity and artistry with my desire for perfection on a mathematical level.

How do You Stay Current With Mathematical Advancements?

As a leader in the field of Plastics Surgery, I travel the world lecturing and teaching our art. This exposure to different cultures and techniques helps me to stay ahead of the game and to bring new technologies to our patients.

What is Your Philosophy of Patient Care?

I have been a physician for over 30 years and like to consider myself as an ‘old school physician’ where the patient comes first. Almost every patient is nervous when they visit a plastic surgeon. From the minute they walk in the door, we want them to feel like they are in the right space. The office is calming, the staff treats them with respect, our providers are both compassionate and knowledgeable. Our goals is make every patient feel safe and cared for.

What Are Your Interests Outside of Medicine?

Outside of the office I am passionate about fitness, art and my family. Training to achieve new physical heights, striving to create the perfect black and white portrait, or watching my kids find their own successes and paths keep me busy and complete.

Why Did You Choose to Practice Plastic Surgery in Philadelphia?

I was born and bred in the suburbs of Philadelphia. It is home. There is no better place for art, culture, sports or life. Why would I choose to live anywhere else?

Dr. Morgenstern has trained in general trauma surgery, ophthalmology , oculofacial plastics surgery, craniofacial surgery and cosmetic surgery. He has served as Secretaty of Education and President for the American Society of Ophthalmic and Plastics Reconstructive Surgery – the world leader in oculofacial surgery. He has authored numerous book chapters and scientific articles and is actively involved in research to advance the field of plastic surgery. As a leader in the art, he travels nationally and internationally on a regular basis to teach and lecture on both cosmetic and reconstructive topics. He holds multiple patents that help to prevent side affects of cancer therapies as well potentially mechanisms to prevent disease formation. Dr. Morgenstern’s innovative techniques enhance aesthetic results and improve patient safety and recovery, reflecting his commitment to excellence for his patients in every aspect of his practice.

& Experience

His extensive training and diverse experience positions Dr. Morgenstern as a leading expert in facial cosmetic and reconstructive surgeries of the head, face, neck and eyes. To achieve and maintain these high-level certifications, he adheres to rigorous standards, which include fulfilling educational and training requirements and successfully passing both written and oral examinations. Board-certified surgeons like Dr. Morgenstern are committed to excellence in their specialized fields.

Among a select group of surgeons nationwide, Dr. Morgenstern is trained in oculofacial plastic surgery, facial cosmetic surgery, general and trauma surgery, and ophthalmology.

Philly Strong, Philly Proud

As a native of Philadelphia, Dr. Morgenstern has dedicated the past twenty years to serving the greater Philadelphia community. He graduated from Lower Merion High School and earned his undergraduate degree from Emory University, where he actively participated in scientific research at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. He then returned to Philadelphia to pursue his medical education, obtaining his MD from the Medical College of Pennsylvania and Hahnemann University.

Dr. Morgenstern was awarded a categorical surgery position and was designated for chief residency at MCP/Hahnemann University. During his residency, he received the Resident of the Year and Humanitarian Award from the Pennsylvania Medical Society. Then, he furthered his training in ophthalmology at West Virginia University, where he again was awarded the position of Chief Resident.

Subsequently, Dr. Morgenstern completed a fellowship in oculofacial plastic surgery at Ohio State University, extensive medical training in craniofacial surgery at the Children’s Hospital of Columbus, and facial cosmetic surgery training at the Center for Facial Rejuvenation.
